McHenry Library
One of the most popular hubs on campus, McHenry Library is a wonderful space to focus on studies in a well lit, calm, and quiet environment. It’s the perfect setting for productive study sessions with onsite access to wifi, computers, and scholarly resources.
We have over 1.5 million books on campus, with access to all books throughout the UC system via the Interlibrary Loan System. Some great features at our libraries include a Video Game Lab, a dedicated yoga space, comfortable reading couches, access to camera and video camera equipment, Macbook and tablet checkouts, the Global Villages Cafe in McHenry, and private study rooms you can reserve for free.
Fun Fact: McHenry Library is home to the Grateful Dead Archive. The band donated memorabilia to create a mini-museum right on our campus!
PARKING INFORMATION
Visitors to UCSC may purchase a daily permit at the Main Entrance Kiosk (M-7) or the TAPS Sales Office (L-7). They may also utilize ParkMobile in designated hourly/daily parking spaces. The closest parking lot to this location is Lower McHenry Library (120A).

One of the many great things about choosing to become a banana slug is our investment in the quality of your classroom experience. Our largest lecture hall on campus is 473 seats, but only 15% of our classes have more than 100 students. This creates an environment where collaboration with professors, small discussion groups with graduate teaching assistants, and time for your specific questions is the norm. This intimate liberal arts experience is by design and part of our campus culture. We offer more than 70 majors in four different divisions; Arts, Humanities, Physical & Biological Sciences, and Social Sciences, and one professional school, the Jack Baskin School of Engineering.
