Armstrong Hall
Armstrong Hall houses The College of Liberal Arts and Sciences and is The College's first stand-alone building since it was founded in 1954. Armstrong Hall is named for John S. Armstrong, who was instrumental in supporting the founding of Tempe Normal School in the Arizona legislature.
Nearly half of the space in Armstrong Hall is devoted to supporting students as they pursue their academic and career goals. As the academic heart of ASU, The College offers degrees in the humanities, natural sciences, and social sciences. From advising hubs and collaborative study spaces to remodeled classrooms and career support, Armstrong Hall provides students a transformed space for student success.

Department of English
With a degree in English from ASU, you can do anything. Students in our diverse degree program learn how to express themselves through traditional channels — literature analysis, rhetoric, linguistics, education, composition and creative writing — while studying contemporary themes, including environmental concerns, medical writing, human rights philosophies, digital narratives and computation. Economics
The Department of Economics at ASU provides highest-quality instruction to students, conducts cutting-edge research in economics and provides leadership and service to its professional communities. The department's undergraduate students are provided the critical thinking and communication skills needed to succeed in business, government or graduate school.
The BS program in economics is built on a strong core of economic theory, supplemented by mathematics and data analysis. All students are encouraged to develop programs of study tailored to their individual needs and interests. Students choose from a variety of courses within the department as well as from The College of Liberal Arts and Sciences and the university to broaden their knowledge and skills and individualize their learning experience.
Students currently enrolled in the Bachelor of Science in economics program may not pursue a concurrent degree with the BS in politics and the economy or the BS in economics, offered by the W. P. School of Human Evolution and Social Change
At the School of Human Evolution and Social Change, we seek to understand the origins and implications of our human uniqueness – such as culture, cooperation and complexity. We combine the skills and perspectives of the largest anthropology and global health programs in the nation with smaller, hand-crafted ones in environmental social science, museum studies and applied math. Our energetic collaborations within and beyond our school are redefining social science as key to solving our most pressing and immediate human challenges – like disease, conflict and declining resources. The School of Social Transformation focuses on transformational knowledge, including creative research approaches to themes and questions embedded in broader historical, social and cultural contexts. Located in Armstrong Hall, the Futures Center is a new hub for students within The College. Built in partnership with ASU’s Office of Career and Professional Development Services, the Futures Center is designed as a 21st-century career center for liberal arts and science majors.
